Mobile phone prices lowered in Pakistan amid struggling economy

ISLAMABAD: The recent economic turmoil has pushed mobile phone manufacturing companies in Pakistan to lower mobile phone prices.

Market sources told Daily Ausaf/ABN News that amid the lower sales of mobile phones, domestic and foreign manufacturers have reduced the prices of 20 different mobile phone models by Rs400 to Rs10,000.

Mobile Phone Association and the market sources have confirmed that the companies have not only lowered the prices of smart mobile phones but also significantly reduced the prices of Button phones, including feature phones by Rs 100 to Rs 500.

According to the details, the sales targets of the mobile phone companies operating in the country are not being met which leads to the reduction of prices of mobile phones.

As mobile phone manufacturers are in large numbers in Pakistan, the representatives of the mobile phone companies have confirmed that the reason for reducing the rates significantly is to stabilize the mobile phone industry in the Pakistani market.

Similarly, car prices in Pakistan have also seen a sharp decline due to a significant reduction in sales. Honda Atlas Cars are the latest to reduce prices by up to Rs300,000, in line with the economic situation.

Honda Atlas Car followed Toyota in a price drop and lowered prices by Rs140,000. Honda Atlas decreased City MT price by Rs50,000 and City’s top variant Aspire CVT 1.5L price cut by Rs140,000.

The price drop comes in response to a recent sales tax increase on vehicles which drastically lowered the sales of vehicles across the country. The auto sector in Pakistan remains in dire straits amid high interest rates and production costs, resulting in higher car prices and a decline in sales.
