Huawei Plans to Re-Enter Smartphone Market

Huawei, a major manufacturer of smartphones in China, has announced that it will shortly reenter the Pakistani market.

Huawei executives in Pakistan recently told the reporters at a meeting that the re-launch was scheduled to take place at the end of this year or the beginning of 2024. The ceremony, which was conducted to introduce the company's annual report for 2022, was broadcast in many countries, including Pakistan. This action follows last week's criticism of Chinese export controls on American technology by Huawei Chairman Eric Xu.

At a news conference, he assured reporters that US penalties will cause China's semiconductor sector to "reborn." An official translation of Mr. Xu's words indicates that he stated, "I believe China's semiconductor industry will not sit idly by but take efforts around... self-strengthening and self-reliance."

He stated, "For Huawei, we will lend our support to all such self-saving, self-strengthening, and self-reliance activities of the Chinese semiconductor sector.

Semiconductors have been a source of contention between the US and China regarding technological hegemony. The United States has attempted to isolate China and Chinese firms over the past few years through export restrictions and fines.
