Gwadar Welcomes Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital's First Patients

Gwadar is poised to witness a landmark moment as the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital prepares to admit its inaugural patients, underscoring the immense progress within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The hospital, conceived in 2020 as a testament to the enduring camaraderie between the two nations, has been a focal point of bilateral collaboration. Zhou Wenwei, Chief Consultant of the Pakistan-China Friendship Hospital, accentuated the deep-rooted connections between China and Pakistan. He highlighted that the impetus for Chinese investment in the hospital stemmed from the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to positively impact the local community.

At an estimated cost of $30.5 million, this state-of-the-art 150-bed facility, sponsored by China's commerce ministry, boasts contemporary amenities and cutting-edge medical technology. Its primary objective is to deliver top-notch healthcare services to the residents of Gwadar and its neighboring areas, effectively addressing previous gaps in essential medical provisions. Encompassing an expansive eight-acre area, the hospital is poised not only to enhance healthcare accessibility but also to stimulate the local economy by creating job opportunities and fostering socio-economic development.
