Government Proposes Significant Increase in Defense Development Budget

Islamabad: Government Led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Proposes Rs5.63 Billion Allocation for Defense Development in Budget 2024-25

The proposed budget encompasses funding for 29 defense projects, reflecting the government's dedication to enhancing military infrastructure and technology.

Within the Ministry of Defence, Rs3.92 billion is designated for ongoing projects crucial for maintaining and upgrading defense systems and infrastructure. Additionally, Rs1.7 billion is allocated for twenty new schemes addressing emerging security challenges and advancing defense preparedness, including Rs400 million for drone procurement for law enforcement and rescue operations.

The budget also allocates Rs50 million for a Research and Regional Center in Islamabad, aimed at fostering innovation in defense technology. Furthermore, Rs38 million is designated for FG Junior Public Schools in strategic locations, and Rs300 million for educational facilities at the National University of Pakistan.

Other allocations include Rs620 million for a Medical City to enhance healthcare for defense personnel and families, and Rs860 million for the National Aerospace Science and Technology Pak Aviation City.

Additionally, a comprehensive five-year economic plan (2024-2029) is set for approval by the National Economic Council, aiming to address various sectors' challenges and spur sustainable growth.
