In an effort to compete with deal-finding tools like Honey, Google is set to roll out innovative features on its Search and Chrome platforms, aiming to assist users in uncovering enticing discounts. This announcement comes as the tech giant takes a step further into the realm of online shopping. On Tuesday, Google revealed its plans to introduce a dedicated page for deals on Search, alongside enhancing Chrome with features that proactively seek out discount codes and furnish users with valuable price insights.

The upcoming deals search results page on Google Search is meticulously crafted to provide users with a centralized hub for locating discounted products from various corners of the web. This user-friendly page will showcase deals across a wide array of categories, encompassing everything from apparel, electronics, toys, to beauty products. What's more, users can anticipate finding deals from an extensive range of merchants, including prominent retail giants, direct-to-consumer brands, luxury multi-brand retailers, designer labels, and local stores.

To access this exciting new feature, users can initiate their quest for deals by simply searching for "shop deals" or, if they are in pursuit of specific items, they can search within categories like "shop sneaker deals."

In another move to enhance the user shopping experience, Google has introduced proactive discount code hunting within its Chrome browser. As of today, Chrome will present recently viewed products from shopping sites on your "Resume browsing" card when opening a new tab, even notifying you if the item is currently on sale. Additionally, when you visit a product page on a shopping site, you'll spot the new Discount tag icon in the Chrome address bar, which allows you to access available coupon codes from the site you are visiting.

Google has extended its efforts to improve the Chrome experience even further by introducing its "price insights" features, already available on Search, to the Chrome platform on desktop. If these insights are accessible on a merchant's website, you'll notice a "Shopping insights" label in the Chrome address bar. By clicking on it, users can delve into a price history graph spanning up to the last 90 days and gain insights into the typical price range for the product currently viewed.

Moreover, Google is simplifying the process of setting price drop alerts from both Search and Chrome. While exploring a product on Search via your smartphone, you can now click on the bell icon next to the product name, enabling you to receive email and push notifications if the product's price experiences a reduction from retailers across the web. In Chrome, you can bookmark products in a newly introduced "Shopping list" folder, facilitating convenient price tracking updates.
