Eidul Fitr 2024: Here’s How Many Holidays Pakistanis Will Enjoy

As per a report from a private news channel, referencing the Meteorological Department, it's anticipated that Pakistanis will relish six holidays for Eidul Fitr.

The news outlet mentioned that Eidul Fitr is likely to fall around April 10. Notably, in 2019, the former federal minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhary, proposed the Lunar calendar to address concerns regarding moon sightings.

According to Chaudhary's calendar, Muslims nationwide will observe 29 fasts this year, indicating that Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on April 10.

Traditionally, Eid holidays commence a day earlier to allow for preparations and celebrations.

If the government declares a four-day holiday from April 9 (Tuesday) to April 12 (Friday), and considering the standard weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday observed by many government and private offices, it would sum up to six holidays in total.

The final decision regarding the holiday schedule will be made following consultations with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and other relevant authorities.

Conversely, based on the Cabinet Division’s holiday list issued a few weeks ago, Eidul Fitr holidays are slated from April 10 to April 12. If this schedule remains unchanged, Pakistanis will enjoy five holidays.
