ECC Approves Export of 150,000 Metric Tons of Sugar

Islamabad:The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the export of 150,000 metric tons of sugar during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The ECC emphasized that sugar exports would be halted if there is a surge in domestic prices.

In addition to this decision, the committee sanctioned Rs 127 million to cover outstanding customs duties. Financial allocations were also approved for various sectors: Rs 29 million for expenses at the President's House, Rs 5.4 billion for the Ministry of Health, and Rs 4.92 billion for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The ECC allocated funds to settle arrears and support projects, including Rs 6.596 billion for Pasco arrears and Rs 370 million for Housing Endorex arrears. Significant financial support was earmarked for initiatives such as Rs 14.25 billion for the Women Inclusive Finance Project, Rs 97 million for the Finance Division's Audit Management Information System, and Rs 5 billion for the Green Tourism Pakistan Project.

To address the fiscal deficit for the current financial year, the ECC also approved Rs 24 billion for the Ministry of Defense.
